Seascape : Original Art

This painting was created using oil paint and pencil. The mix of different media creates a stark contrast between the light idyllic sea and pastel sky and the harsh pencil strokes cutting into the scene in a variety of angled shapes. The scene depicts a women lounging amongst a sea of reeds, paint drips over her face obscuring her view from the picturesque natural setting. As humans we enjoy being in nature but we are blind to how we are impacting wildlife and how much our actions are destroying our physically environment. Just as the pencil marks cut into the landscape in this image, we are too changing the way our world looks and the spaces we occupy.
